Keeling Elementary School
We provide many forms of support to an underprivileged school in the urban core of Tucson through the following activities:

Tutoring Wendy Tutoring
Help 1st-graders catch up in reading. CACC-UCC’s Reading Sprouts program runs four days a week during the school year. The program helps slower readers get up to speed over the course of the school year. Church volunteers each put in 1¾ hours one day a week to give individual attention to one student at a time.

Food Pantry Food Pantry 0425a 002
This just-started program provides an opportunity once a month for families from the wider Keeling neighborhood to fill a bag of much-needed groceries. Volunteers work up to 3 hours one afternoon per month. Done in partnership with the school and the Community Food Bank.  Our congregation supplemented the standard fare of the food bank by taking the extra step of contributing 140 boxes of Cheerios for distribution in the spring of 2018.

Backpack 1 "BackPack” Nutrition Program
Pack a weekly nutrition supplement for 100 students who might not receive enough to eat on weekends. Program runs every week of the school year. Church volunteers each put in 2 hours one afternoon per month.

School Supply Drive School Supplies 2017 002 002
Contribute a truckload of school supplies each summer for the start of school. The supplies are laid out on long tables in the school cafeteria, and teachers come in to “shop” for everything from pencils to facial tissues they know will be needed.

Keeling Christmas 2017 002 Keeling Christmas
Contribute toys and clothing to make the holidays a little merrier for about 75 children who otherwise wouldn’t have much of a Christmas.

Tax-Credit Donation Program
Designate your tax-credit donation each year to provide field trips and other extracurricular activities to Keeling students. Underprivileged schools typically don’t receive much of this help. But with a big boost from CACC-UCC, Keeling received more such assistance than any other elementary school in its school district.

Reunion House Youth Shelter
Provide summer activities for teens who are homeless and living in temporary care. They are able to attend school during the school year but access to local events and activities provides them opportunities to keep busy in the summer.
